About this Course
Spatial Science in Forestry introduces students to the principles and applications of geospatial technologies in understanding forest ecosystems and human–environment interactions. The course covers Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial analysis, and mapping techniques that are essential for forest inventory, land-use monitoring, biodiversity assessment, and conservation planning. Students will learn how to collect, manage, and interpret spatial data to address forestry challenges such as deforestation, land degradation, watershed management, and climate change adaptation. Emphasis is placed on applying spatial science to support evidence-based forest policy and sustainable resource management.
