A research team from the Manado Forestry and Environmental Research and Development Centre has recorded that one-year-old red jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus) shows no difference in growth between North Minahasa Regency and North Bolaang Mongondow Regency in North Sulawesi Province. The study was conducted in Talawaan Village, North Minahasa, and Nunuka Village, North Bolaang Mongondow. Red jabon is a priority species earmarked for development in community plantations in North Minahasa.

In North Minahasa, red jabon reached an average height of 215.84 cm with a diameter of 4.34 cm. In North Bolaang Mongondow, the average height was 231.79 cm and the diameter 4.14 cm. According to the study, red jabon is able to adapt to a range of environmental conditions. Its natural habitat in North Sulawesi is known to be in North Bolaang Mongondow.

These results are important for plantation development in North Minahasa. The research team considers the environmental conditions there highly suitable for red jabon growth, so development efforts should be stepped up. For local communities and forest farmers, red jabon can be a planting choice that grows well in both locations.
