Forestry Study Programme at Unismuh Makassar Holds Ta'aruf: Adapting, Progressing, and Growing into Foresters

MAKASSAR, 17 September 2026 – The Forestry Study Programme, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, organised a Ta'aruf event for the Forestry Study Programme with the theme 'Adapting, Progressing, and Growing into Foresters' on Thursday (17/9). The event, which took place from 08:30 to 11:30 WITA in the Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture, 6th Floor of the Iqra Building, served as a moment to welcome new students and introduce them to the academic environment, the culture of the study programme, and student life in the Forestry Study Programme.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Agriculture, lecturers of the Forestry Study Programme, new students, and the committee of the Forestry Student Association (HMJ). The presence of these various elements of the academic community demonstrated support for building a collaborative, inclusive educational environment oriented towards developing student competencies. Through this ta'aruf event, new students are expected to become better acquainted with lecturers, student organisations, and various opportunities for self-development during their higher education.

The Head of the Forestry Study Programme, Ir. Jauhar Mukti, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM., in his message emphasised the importance of new students adapting to the campus environment, undergoing every learning process diligently, and continuously developing their potential. Forestry students are not only required to master knowledge and skills in forestry but also need to possess character, integrity, social awareness, and a commitment to forest and environmental sustainability. The spirit of togetherness, discipline, and active participation in academic and organisational activities are essential in shaping competent and competitive future foresters.

Through this Ta'aruf event for the Forestry Study Programme, new students are expected to begin their academic journey with a passion for learning, the courage to progress, and readiness to face various challenges in forestry. In line with the event's theme, becoming a forester is a long process that requires knowledge, experience, collaboration, and concern for society and the environment. The Forestry Study Programme at Unismuh Makassar is committed to supporting students in growing into a generation of professional, integrity-driven foresters who contribute meaningfully to the sustainability of Indonesia's forests.
