MAKASSAR – Encouraging news comes from the Forestry Study Programme, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. A team of lecturers and students from Unismuh Makassar has successfully secured funding for the 2026 Impactful Student Programme through the “Aksara Peduli” initiative, which focuses on community empowerment and the development of innovations based on local potential.
The programme, which carries the theme “Circular Village Food”, is led by Andi Rama Ramadhan, President of the Unismuh Makassar Student Government, with Rahmat Ariandi, S.Hut., M.Hut., as the supervising lecturer. The team is further strengthened by Abdul Malik, S.H., M.H., and Muh. Ikmal Soleh, S.P., M.Si., as members. Two forestry students are also involved: A. Fawzan Asywad and Muhammad Yahya.
The programme is entitled “Empowerment of Farmer Groups and Women Farmer Groups through the Integration of Food Crop Agricultural Waste in Harapan Village, Barru Regency.” The activity is directed towards promoting the more productive use of food crop agricultural waste through a circular economy approach, while also strengthening the capacity of farmer groups and women farmer groups to develop local resource potential.
The success in obtaining this funding represents an opportunity for lecturers and students to strengthen collaboration in the implementation of the university's threefold mission (tridharma), particularly through community empowerment activities with direct impact. The Forestry Study Programme at Unismuh Makassar hopes that this initiative will provide tangible benefits for the community of Harapan Village, encourage student innovation, and reinforce the university's contribution to realising sustainable village development.
