Barru – The series of field practice activities for Forestry students at Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar was enriched by an academic dialogue entitled “Forestry Student Discussion Forum”, held on 28 April in Dusun Kading, Barru Regency. This activity was attended by all students participating in the field practice, together with their supervising lecturers.
The discussion forum took place in an open and participatory atmosphere, where students were given the opportunity to share their views, experiences, and evaluations of both academic and non-academic activities they had undertaken. This discussion became an important moment to strengthen communication between students and lecturers, while also fostering a culture of critical and reflective thinking.
During the forum, various issues were discussed, ranging from the effectiveness of classroom learning processes, the implementation of field activities, to the dynamics of student organisations. Lecturers also provided responses and constructive feedback aimed at improving the quality of learning and the development of students’ capacities in the future.
This activity was intended as a means of collective reflection on the achievements and challenges faced by students, both in academic aspects and personal development. Furthermore, the forum was expected to generate new ideas that could support the enhancement of forestry education quality within the campus environment.
With the organisation of this academic dialogue, students are not only equipped with technical skills through field practice, but also with critical thinking, communication, and self-evaluation abilities as part of a holistic learning process.
